Natural Light vs. Flash

Natural light photography is definitely more complicated than flash photography because of having to take several test shots to get just the right settings. While using tripods and practicing unique and unusual creativity with camera angles and positions, natural light photography whether outdoors or in is truly unique and relies on the environment. The end result is beautiful! Whenever possible I try to use natural light, but for my wedding photography I always take just as many flash pictures in order to capture that perfect facial expression. My natural light photos are very artistic and capture romantic moments in a truly intimate way.

Shelter Box is a great organization based in the UK and already on the ground in Haiti. Details are below, but each box and all of the supplies costs about 1,000 USD. I think this is a great cause and a great opportunity for people to come together to pool their funds for a shelter box to go to Haiti.

Here are the details as to what comes in a Shelter Box:

Shelter
At the heart of every ShelterBox is a ten-person tent. It is custom made for ShelterBox by Vango, one of the world’s leading tent manufacturers, and is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, high winds and heavy rainfall. Internally, each tent has privacy partitions that allow recipients to divide the space as they see fit.

A smile
Every box contains a children’s pack containing drawing books, crayons and pens. For children who have lost most, if not all,their possessions, these small gifts are treasured.
Warmth and protection
In addition to the tent, the boxes contain a range of other survival equipment including thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets, essential in areas where temperatures plummet at nightfall. Where malaria is prevalent mosquito nets are supplied, as well a life saving means of water purification. Water supplies often become contaminated after a major disaster, as infrastructure and sanitation systems are destroyed, this presents a secondary but no less dangerous threat to survivors than the initial disaster itself.

Self sufficiency
A basic tool kit containing a hammer, axe, saw, trenching shovel, hoe head, pliers and wire cutters can be found in every box. These items enable people to improve their immediate environment, by chopping firewood or digging a latrine, for example. Then, when it is possible, to start repairing or rebuilding the home they were forced to leave.

Fit for purpose
Every item is durable, practical and brand new. The box itself is lightweight and waterproof and has been used for a variety of purposes in the past - from water and food storage containers to a cot for a newly born baby.

A heart to the home
A key piece in every box is either a wood burning or multi-fuel stove - that can burn anything from diesel to old paint. This provides the heart of the new home where water is boiled, food is cooked and families congregate. In addition, there are pans, utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers.
Adaptability
We keep a broad range of equipment in stock so we can adapt the contents of a box to a specific disaster. For example, following the Javanese earthquake in 2006, when some resources were available locally or could be salvaged from one story buildings, the overwhelming need was for shelter – so we just sent tents, packing two in each box.

In short they are creatively designed art-pieces incorporating several photos to tell a story and printed on fine-art paper and mounted to high-quality matboard with a lustre-coat finish to protect against fingerprints. They can be hung with a frame or without, it just depends on the look you are going for. Beach Sessions are here and I wanted to show off some cute examples of Photo Montages that are available this Summer....as always there is no design fee and no obligation to purchase. I simply spend some time after the shoot, enhancing and designing, to come up with cute ideas that you (the client) might like. These are available in sizes ranging from 5 x 15 to 10 x 20 and start at a very low price of $75 which includes upgraded matboard. New Motherhood is an intimate and emotional time for the mother, siblings and family members which can be captured beautifully with Artistic Portraiture. Maternity Sessions

The best time for your maternity session is around 32-37 weeks when your belly is well-defined to photograph. I recommend bringing a variety of clothing selections that best accentuate your growing belly. Some great clothing basics include: a classic white button down shirt with pre-pregnancy jeans (they do not need to zip or button!); form fitting tank tops and camisoles with yoga pants and fun, flirty lingerie. If you are feeling a bit daring, we can do artistic topless or full nude maternity poses with your hands strategically placed or using a variety of maternity wraps. Remember, this is your time to show off those wonderful pregnancy curves!

I hope everybody loves the changes I've made to the website.
It is finally complete........

This new site will allow clients to process orders online, create albums for ordering, select "Storyboards", send gifts to out-of-state friends and family and the list goes on and on.

Beach Day

Everybody had such an amazing time at the "Beach Day" photo session.

We dressed up in TuTu's, Sea Princess Outfits and even wore headbands with flowers in our hair. The girls were absolutely adorable and alot of Fun!

Wow, Fall is fast approaching and I'm already starting off with a wonderful "Fall Fairy" shoot.

This New "Fall Fairy" outfit is so adorable.....I am definitely looking forward to using it with other clients.
